Life Alert is Working Great.
Standing there in just my underwear, I hear Ron saying, “She hit the button by accident in her sleep.”
I stop myself from going out the bedroom with no clothes on and slowly back into the bedroom and lay on the bed to grab a cigarette.
I hear to Ron, Big Mama, and the 911 operator as the operator laughs. Good thing she has a sense of humor. I hear her tell them that Morehead City PD will probably show up as they have that rule that they come every time there is a call.
I roll back out of bed and get dressed so I can let them in. Looking at the clock as I walk into the living room, it is 4:37 am. Big Mama and Ron talk about why they can’t make the button on her life alert harder for her to push.
His idea of putting it in a locket of some kind, just will not work, in my opinion. What if she was having a stroke? I tell him I would rather have 100 false alarms than it not work when she needs it.
There is knock on the door.
Christina with Morehead City PD is understanding and also, has a sense of humor. Tells us they have the rule about coming out in case someone is standing over you telling you to say things are ok at gunpoint. Good rule to have, I guess. Who thinks of these scenarios?
After she leaves, Ron and I go back to bed. Get comfy again. Or as comfy as we can with Ron hurting from jumping out of bed.
Lay there for a few minutes talking about everything. Neither of us are getting back to sleep. So now we are sitting in living room, him watching TV with Big Mama, who also can’t sleep, and me typing away.

Idea About Teaching Baby’s Alphabet.
As I have said before, the time to teach children is when they are babies. I have sang the ABC’s to Anna from the time she was 2 weeks old. I read to her all the time. I have discovered that she loves looking at pictures of herself. So I came up with an idea to combine the two. I have been learning about PowerPoint in Software Applications and an idea that has been in my head for a while now quickly took over.
I used the PowerPoint to make a couple of books for Anna. I started at the beginning. Anna’s Arrival was a big hit with my angel. Then I thought about teaching her. So I created Anna’s Alphabet over the weekend. I took longer to find the pictures than anything else. She loves it.
Of course, if you are putting lots of pictures into a PowerPoint, it does take up space on your computer. However, if after you are finished you convert the file to JPEGs or to PDF format, they take up a lot less space. I did both, one for my Kindle and one for photobucket, to share. http://photobucket.com/AnnasAlphbet
I think it is a good way to teach them that is fun for them. And a book with them as the STAR makes them feel good about themselves. I will be creating books for my great nephews, if I can get my sister and my niece to send me the pictures, for Christmas gifts. A present does not have to cost a lot to mean something.

Quirky Grandma’s Ideas for Tomatoes.
While I don’t have a garden, there are times that we get a lot of tomatoes from others. I hate to waste so I make sure we use them all. Cutting them up for chili and pasta sauce are great uses but sometimes I get tired of red sauce. Of course, they are great in salads and even just by themselves. Tomato sandwiches are a great standby.
I have discovered another great idea, as well. As I don’t too much care for sandwiches, not a big bread eater. I make tuna stuffed tomatoes. I just take the insides of the tomato out and save for my sauces. Then spoon in my tuna salad. It is a fairly healthy lunch. And very good. Even Ron likes it and he says he hates tuna salad.
Anna won’t eat it, she eats most everything but for some reason does not like anything with tuna fish in it. Maybe, the texture is just so different to her.
