Is Flashlight Friends the Best Friend for Your Child?

Two Thumbs Up For Flashlight Friends
The commercial for Flashlight Friends would come on. Immediately, Anna would jump up and start dancing around the living room singing. A commercial’s job is to get people to want the product. This commercial definitely hit that mark.  She begged and pleaded with us to buy  her the pink unicorn constantly.

Earlier this year, I gave in. I bought her Flashlight Friend for either Easter or her birthday. You really don’t expect to remember as far back as spring, do you?

Yes, with this review, I purchased the product myself.

Anna was in love and the happiest child “ever” for a little while. As I mentioned in my post 5 Laws of Raising Children Based on Murphy's Law, the inevitable happened. Another fad toy came out not long after. Don’t get me wrong. She still loves “Unicorn.”

But does it do what the commercials say?

Last for Hundreds of Hours: As I mentioned, we have had this toy since spring. It is still going strong and she uses it every night.  By my estimations, that is only about 30 hours. I can’t say for sure it last for as long as they say but so far the bulb is still burning bright.

Eases Fear of The Dark: Anna has always had trouble with the dark. She has, what is termed, night terrors and sometimes night time can be a horrible for everyone. However, Unicorn protects her from the dark. We still have some bad nights but since we got her the Flashlight Friend, they are much easier on us all.

Lights Don’t Get Hot: I can assure you this is the first thing we checked. We would not allow her to have it in her bed if the bulb did get hot. It didn’t then and I double checked today, it still doesn’t.

Cuddly, Fun, Super Soft: Anna gives Flashlight Friends Pink Unicorn two thumbs up on each one of these. She carries it around with her everywhere. This pink toy is her best friend.

Ease of Use: This is where I have to disagree. They say that the child can tap it and turn the light on and off again. She still is not able to turn on the light by herself. It does goes off after about 10 minutes on its own. Usually, this is long enough for her to fall asleep. We do have to go turn it on for her again on occasion.

I would have to say that Flashlight Friends is Anna and Quirky Grandma approved. The only problem I see the amount of pressure needed to turn on the light. Anna just is not strong enough yet to make it work without assistance. While Anna is still begging for her Teddy Tank, she is very happy with her Unicorn.
